GAIRIKA PROOFREADS
Hi, I am Gairika.
I edit and proofread medicine content.
My love of science and words has defined my path as a medical editor and proofreader. I am dedicated to closing the gap between top-notch medical research and simple, understandable communication.
My Academic Path
I started my academic journey with a degree in Botany, motivated by a curiosity about the living world. My fascination quickly expanded to the human brain, prompting me to pursue a Master of Science in Neuroscience. Throughout my schooling, I developed an appreciation for the English language, which has remained an ongoing ally in my scientific pursuits.
My Professional Journey
I began my professional life as an academic writer in medicine and nursing, a position that lasted three rewarding years. This experience gave me the opportunity to connect with thousands of students from all around the world, emphasizing the crucial need to effectively present health facts. Determined to make a more concrete contribution to the scientific community, I completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Writing.
In 2020, I was selected by a renowned academic publication to serve as a scientific editor specializing in medicine. This role validated my enthusiasm and dedication to the field. As a medical editor, I have worked for Cactus Communications, EditChecks LLC, and MogoEdit. I've had the opportunity to work on over 1,000 medical articles, assisting researchers in publishing their findings in top journals such as the Journal of Neuroscience, BMC Neurology, Brain, Stroke, The American Journal of Emergency Medicine, Frontiers in Psychiatry, and PLoS ONE.
My Mission
My mission is straightforward but deep: to eliminate language barriers in scientific publications and polish medical information to increase its reach and impact. I am committed to making vital health information available and comprehensible to a worldwide readership.
My Professional Affiliation
I am a proud member of the Council of Asian Science Editors, a group dedicated to the improvement of scientific communication in Asia and abroad.
A Bit About Me Personally
On a personal note, I am an introvert who enjoys simple things in life. I reside in India with my parents and spend my leisure time doing things I enjoy. I love baking, immersing myself in crime thrillers (I am a huge admirer of Agatha Christie and Honkaku mysteries!), and sometimes crying over movies.
I appreciate you taking the time to find out about me. I look forward to the opportunity to collaborate and contribute to your scientific communication goals.
