-
What style guide do you follow?I use the AMA Manual of Style for research papers and The Chicago Manual of Style for other documents.
-
What medical topics do you edit and proofread?I have edited over 1,000 medicine articles in the following areas: Dentistry Oncology Radiology Sleep science Ophthalmology Infectious diseases Respiratory medicine Neuroscience and neurology Cardiology and vascular medicine Muscle, bone, and physical and sports medicine Even if your topic isn’t listed above, I can likely help.
-
What file formats do you work with?Content must be submitted as Word documents. No other formats will be accepted. If your document is generated in LaTex or PDF, you must convert the text to Word for it to be reviewed. You may submit PowerPoint presentations for health guides and patient education materials.
-
What kind of content do you edit and proofread? My specialty is medical editing and proofreading. Areas of expertise include research articles, books, blog posts, health guides, patient education materials, FAQs, and news updates on health and medicine.
-
Will my writing be 100% free of errors?I do my best to correct errors in your writing. However, even the most experienced editors cannot guarantee 100% error-free content. The most successful writers need to revise their work several times before it is published. I will polish your medical documents and push them one step closer to publication.
-
How long does it take to edit/proofread?The duration is determined by the length of the manuscript and if it requires proofreading, copyediting, or developmental editing. When you send me a sample, I will calculate the fee and estimate the delivery date. Please note that I have multiple jobs running concurrently or planned in advance, so there may be a wait time. On average, editing a 3,000-word medical document takes roughly 4 days.
-
Why don’t you post the exact rates per project? Each manuscript is distinct, requiring a different kind of effort and time. I prefer to review the text before providing a rate quote so that we can determine the quality of editing and the length of time required.
-
Do you provide a sample edit?Yes. I usually charge a set fee of 17 USD for a sample copyedit (between 200 and 500 words). I charge because each hour I spend on free editorial tasks is an hour I could spend doing paid work. A sample copyedit enables me to demonstrate my worth and remove any concerns regarding the edit. P.S. For books, I offer a free sample copyedit of 1,000 words.
